🔖 Technique Notes
In this technique, Tori deflects the incoming Jōdan Tsuki with a circular parry while stepping back, then enters to the outside. As he closes distance, Tori establishes head control by gripping Uke’s face and head—one hand securing the face with the thumb and middle finger gripping the cheeks, and the other hand controlling the top of the head. Tori then steps in, positioning his lead leg behind Uke’s legs as a barrier, while lowering his rear knee to the ground into a kneeling position. Using head control, he throws Uke by driving the head downward and tipping him over the barrier leg. Maintaining control on the ground, Tori finishes by applying Shi Shin Ken (pinky to the eye), by driving the fingers into the soft areas of the face, or by driving them into the neck.
