This excerpt comes from the YouTube video "Double WAKIZASHI vs KATANA" on the Weaponism channel (Korea). The Hogu Couple, who appear in the video, are practitioners of Kendō and focus on practical sparring, drills, and weapon demonstrations.

🔖 Technique Notes

Historically, dual‑wielding two Wakizashi was not a common or standard practice in Kenjutsu, as the Wakizashi was intended to be used in the off-hand alongside a full-sized Katana. However, dual-wielding two Wakizashi has appeared in recent fiction. For example, Shinomori Aoshi, a character from the manga and anime series Rurouni Kenshin, is shown using two Wakizashi simultaneously.

In this video, the two practitioners experiment with dual-wielding two Wakizashi against a Katana in a Kenjutsu context (not Kendō).
Due to its longer reach, the Katana provides an advantage for striking the opponent, but the Wakizashi dual-wielder is still able to land cuts by parrying with one weapon while attacking with the other.
From this demonstration, it appears that dual-wielding Wakizashi can be effective, though in practice, pairing a Katana and a Wakizashi would likely be a more practical and efficient combination.
