🔖 Technique Notes

Uke places Tori’s arm in a Nikyō Ura configuration: one hand controls Tori’s hand with the thumb pressing over Tori’s thumb, while the other secures the wrist, folding and compressing it against Uke’s torso so that Tori’s arm forms a Z-shape.
Before Uke can fully apply the wrist lock through compression and rotational pressure, Tori alters the angle of his arm by dropping his elbow—changing it from pointing outward to pointing downward—and consequently turning the palm from a sideways orientation to facing downward. This adjustment disrupts Uke’s structure, unbalancing him laterally as it lifts and opens Uke’s elbow (the elbow of the arm controlling Tori’s hand).
Taking advantage of this moment, Tori seizes Uke’s elbow with his free hand and executes a downward cut, completing Ikkyō Omote.
