🔖 Technique Notes

Uke grabs Tori in Gyaku Hanmi Katate Dōri. Tori turns his hand so the palm faces inward and raises it along his centerline, seizing the blade of Uke’s hand from underneath. He then releases the originally grabbed hand from the grip and places it over Uke’s fingers, establishing two-handed control of Uke’s hand, and applies a Kote Gaeshi wrist turn to throw Uke down. As Uke rolls and settles onto his side, Tori secures an Ude Garami (Kimura lock) by threading one arm beneath Uke’s arm and gripping his own forearm while controlling Uke’s wrist, forming a figure-four. From there, Tori slides the hand gripping Uke’s wrist down to seize the blade of the hand, applying rotational pressure to convert the control into a Sankyō wristlock.
