🔖 Technique Notes
Uke runs in to seize one of Tori’s arms in Ai Hanmi Katate Dōri, and as the grip is taken, Tori raises the captured arm higher. Maintaining his forward drive, Uke moves past Tori to come in behind him, reaching for the lapel to apply a choke, arriving in a Katate Dōri Kubishime position. However, before Uke can secure the lapel, Tori—whose arm is already elevated—pivots to face the same direction as Uke’s movement and cuts downward with his arm. This action amplifies Uke’s forward momentum, unbalancing him forward and down and causing him to fall ahead.
