Shōmen Uchi – Kote Gaeshi with the Tessen (Metal Fan)

Uke strikes Shōmen Uchi. Tori, holding the Tessen in a reverse grip, raises it horizontally and secures the other end with his free hand to block the incoming strike. He then steps to the outside, positions the Tessen against the back of Uke’s hand, and grabs Uke’s wrist with his off hand, placing his thumb on the Tessen. This grip immediately applies pressure and pain to Uke’s hand. Tori completes the technique by twisting Uke’s wrist outward, in the manner of Kote Gaeshi.
