🔖 Technique Notes
Uke grabs Tori’s tessen in a Gyaku Hanmi position. As the tessen is seized, Tori twists it upward from the outside and takes hold of Uke’s hand with his free hand. He then uses the tessen as a lever, lifting the end he holds while directing the end gripped by Uke downward and toward him, locking Uke’s wrist in a Nikyō. The same technique can be applied without the tessen, in a Kote Zume–like variation.
