Jūken Dōri – Sokumen Irimi Nage – 45° Entry
⛩️ Source
This excerpt comes from a 1935 demonstration by Morihei Ueshiba Sensei at the Osaka Asahi Journal, directed by Hisa Takuma.
🔖 Technique Notes
Uke thrusts with a Jūken (bayonet). Tori enters to the outside to get off the line, makes contact with the weapon using his lead hand without gripping, and redirects it to a 45° angle while taking a matching 45° angle with his body. As he redirects it, he guides the weapon toward his rear hand, which seizes it. From this angled position, Tori continues to enter and raises his lead arm toward Uke’s face, prompting Uke to drop into a fall to avoid the incoming strike.
