🔖 Technique Notes

Uke grabs Muna Dōri. Tori threatens an atemi to Uke’s face with his rear hand while seizing Uke’s wrist with the same hand, and simultaneously places his other hand on Uke’s elbow. He then raises Uke’s elbow as he steps with his rear leg to the inside at a 90° angle relative to Uke’s feet, forcing Uke to release the Muna Dōri grip and establishing the classical Ikkyō elbow-to-shoulder control. From this position, two variations are possible:
-Tori can take a deep step with his now rear leg toward Uke’s head.
-Alternatively, instead of merely stepping, Tori can deliver a Mae Geri to Uke’s face and stomp Uke’s lead foot or ankle as he returns his foot to the ground.
