🔖 Technique Notes
Hane Goshi, or "spring hip throw," is a Jūdō technique in which Tori off-balances Uke forward and slightly to the side, steps in close, and positions the hips under Uke’s center of gravity. Tori then extends one leg upward and backward to spring against Uke’s upper thigh, using it as a fulcrum, while simultaneously pulling and lifting Uke with the hands to project Uke over the hip. Unlike Harai Goshi, where the back leg sweeps across Uke’s supporting leg and the lift comes primarily from the hips and hands, in Hane Goshi the leg itself actively contributes to lifting and projecting Uke, giving the throw a more springing action.
