🔖 Technique Notes
As Uke thrusts with the Tantō, Tori steps to the outside at a 45° angle relative to the line of attack and performs an Enka pivot, making light contact with the attacking forearm with his now rear hand (contact only, without deflecting or blocking). Tori then takes Uke’s hand with both hands and performs another Enka pivot, raising Uke’s arm while advancing his rear leg under it, and continues into a Tenkan pivot (Uchi Kaiten entry). During the pivot, Tori applies the Sankyō wristlock, locking the wrist by grabbing Uke’s hand by the blade of the hand, and thus disarms him, taking the Tantō with his other hand. As he completes the Tenkan and retreats the forward leg, Tori lowers Uke’s arm and immediately launches a cut to Uke’s midsection with the captured Tantō. Uke jumps back and falls onto his belly to avoid the cut. With Uke on the ground, Tori maintains the Sankyō control on the arm and places the blade of the Tantō at the back of Uke’s neck to control him.
