🔖 Technique Notes

Uke and Tori are seated facing each other in Suwari Waza. Tori advances on his left knee and attacks with a Tsuki using his rear hand, armed with a Tantō. Uke moves to the outside, making contact with the attacking hand using his lead hand, deflecting it downward and slightly to the inside, and taking hold of the wrist. He then raises and lowers it to the outside in a circular motion, bringing his second hand to turn Tori’s wrist outward into a Kote Gaeshi. Before this second hand fully secures the control, Tori seizes it at the wrist and performs a Tenkan pivot, lowering Uke’s hand, extending the arm, and then raising it again as he completes the pivot. During the pivot, Tori frees his armed hand from Uke’s grip. This movement extends Uke’s arm and locks the elbow. As Uke falls forward onto his belly under this Hiji Kime Osae, Tori threatens his head with the Tantō while maintaining control.
