🔖 Technique Notes

Tori is seated in seiza while Uke stands. Uke comes from behind and seizes one of Tori’s lapels to apply a choke while also grabbing one of Tori’s wrists, ending in a Katate Dōri Kubishime position. Because Tori’s captured hand is extended and pointing downward, Uke is already tilting to this side.
Tori then raises his free arm as he pivots toward Uke. This upward motion rolls his shoulder, affecting Uke’s choking arm and pushing him forward in the direction he is already tilting. As Tori continues to raise the arm, he makes contact under Uke’s armpit with it and leans forward in that same direction, pushing into Uke while stepping with the leg on the same side as the pushing arm.
Meanwhile, Tori’s other hand—the one still held by Uke—remains in place. This further breaks Uke’s structure, as his shoulder is pushed past his other hand, outside his support polygon. Already unbalanced, Uke is driven beyond his feet and falls forward.
