Hanmi Handachi Waza Ushiro Ryō Kata Dōri – Uchi Kaiten Nage
⛩️ Source
This excerpt comes from a 1935 demonstration by Morihei Ueshiba Sensei at the Osaka Asahi Journal, directed by Hisa Takuma.
🔖 Technique Notes
Tori is seated in seiza while Uke stands. Uke approaches from behind and seizes both of Tori’s shoulders (Ushiro Ryō Kata Dōri). Tori steps back while rolling his shoulders—lowering the one on the retreating side and raising the other—slipping beneath Uke’s arm. As he turns, Tori places his lead hand on the back of Uke’s head and the other on Uke’s upper arm. He then pushes forward on the arm while pulling the head downward and backward, throwing Uke forward in the characteristic wheel-like motion of Kaiten Nage.
