Hari Sutemi

Hari Sutemi is a sacrifice throwing technique belonging to the sutemi-waza family. The technique involves sharply dropping the body while applying forward pressure—often likened to a “needle” (hari) action—to break the opponent’s balance and drive them to the ground. It emphasizes precise timing, direct entry, and efficient use of body alignment, relying more on structure and commitment than on strength to execute the throw effectively.
