🔖 Technique Notes
As Uke launches a tsuki, Tori steps in to the outside line, deflecting the strike downward by placing the lead hand at Uke’s elbow while the other hand controls Uke’s wrist/hand. Keeping that grip, Tori delivers an atemi to the face with the free hand.
Tori then threads that striking arm over and around Uke’s arm from above, sliding it down so it passes just beneath Uke’s elbow, trapping the joint against Tori’s forearm. He secures the lock by grabbing his own forearm, forming a tight elbow lock.
In this variation, Tori takes Uke to the ground by stepping his lead leg back and dropping onto one knee (the rear leg on the knee). He then turns to face Uke, increasing the pressure on the elbow joint until Uke taps.
