Jōdan Nukite – Kubi Shime Sutemi (Arm Triangle Choke)

⛩️ Source

The content of this video comes from the leading figures of the Yoseikan Aikidō school of Minoru Mochizuki Sensei. This instruction is still given by one of their assistants, Terumi Washizu Sensei, founder of Gyukushin Ryū Aikidō in Shizuoka, Japan, who taught at the former Yoseikan Hombu dojo in Shizuoka.

🔖 Technique Notes

Uke strikes with a Jōdan Nukite. Tori evades to the inside, contacting Uke’s forearm and elbow with his rear hand. He lowers Uke’s arm to enter on the outside, positioning himself beside Uke, seizing the wrist with one hand and wrapping his other arm under Uke’s elbow to lock it, unbalancing Uke upward. Tori then releases both grips to secure Uke’s arm and head in a standing Kata Gatame–like position, before falling backward in a sacrifice throw, taking Uke down and finishing the sequence with an arm-triangle choke.
