Jūken Dōri – Kokyū Nage – Forward Overextension Variation
⛩️ Source
This excerpt comes from a 1935 demonstration by Morihei Ueshiba Sensei at the Osaka Asahi Journal, directed by Hisa Takuma.
🔖 Technique Notes
Uke thrusts with a Jūken (bayonet). As he does so, Tori moves off the line on the outside at a 45° angle relative to the attack. Following the incoming thrust momentum, Tori performs an Enka pivot to face the same direction as Uke and steps with his rear leg, pulling the grabbed tip of the Jūken forward—extending Uke’s thrust—in a diagonal, slightly downward motion. This overextends Uke’s attack, unbalancing him forward and causing him to fall.
