Kote Gaeshi – Morihei Ueshiba Budō Manual Variation

Uke strikes Chūdan Tsuki. Tori evades to the outside and seizes Uke’s attacking wrist, then performs a tenkan pivot followed by an enka pivot as he steps away on a diagonal, turning his back completely to Uke. This extends and unbalances Uke. As Uke turns to face him again, Tori pivots to face Uke and cuts in the same direction Uke is moving, while stepping in the opposite direction of the cut, completing the throw. This variation may correspond to the one presented in the 1938 Budō manual.
