🔖 Technique Notes
Ō Soto Otoshi, or “major outer drop,” is a judo throwing technique in which Uke is dropped straight backward without sweeping the leg. In this throw, Tori positions their leg against the outside of Uke’s leg to act as a firm support or pivot, rather than to reap it. Unlike Ōsoto Gari, which relies on a sweeping action, Ōsoto Otoshi emphasizes off-balancing and pushing on Uke's torso to execute the drop.
