🔖 Technique Notes

Ōsoto Otoshi, or “major outer drop,” is a judo throwing technique in which the opponent is dropped straight backward without sweeping the leg. In this throw, the practitioner positions their leg against the outside of uke’s leg to act as a firm support or pivot, rather than to reap it. Unlike Ōsoto Gari, which relies on a sweeping action, Ōsoto Otoshi emphasizes off-balancing and pushing on Uke's torso to execute the drop.
