Reverse Kubi Nage / Reverse Cervical Extension Neck Crank Throw

🚫 Forbidden 📅 2011 🎥 Demonstration

⛩️ Source

Koshi Nage performed by Meido Moore Sensei at the XII Aikido Summer Camp hosted by AAI Polska Aikido in Ilawa, Poland, 2011.

🔖 Technique Notes

In the standard Kubi Nage, Tori grips the back of Uke’s head or neck, both face the same direction, and Uke is thrown face-first as the neck is brought primarily into flexion. In this Meido Moore Sensei variation, Tori grips the front of the face, more precisely the chin, the two face opposite directions, and the throw is driven by extension of the cervical spine, as in an executioner/reverse can-opener–style neck crank, resulting in Uke being projected head-back first.
