🔖 Technique Notes
Uke grabs Tori’s lapel (Eri Dōri). Tori immediately takes hold of Uke’s wrist with both hands, entering on the inside at a 90° angle relative to Uke’s position, and extends and raises the arm as in the beginning of Shihō Nage, breaking Uke’s grip.
Continuing the movement, Tori turns fully so that his back faces Uke, positioning Uke’s elbow onto his shoulder and locking it in an Ude Kime–type control. In response, Uke attempts to escape by bending the elbow and drawing the hand back toward himself.
As this happens, Tori turns to the outside, passing under Uke’s arm. Because the arm is now bent, it naturally aligns into the Shihō Nage position. Tori then cuts down with the arm, completing the Shihō Nage and taking Uke to the ground.
