🔖 Technique Notes
Uke grabs Tori’s sleeve (Sode Dōri). Tori enters to the outside and threads the grabbed arm into a deep underhook, positioning it just behind Uke’s shoulder; although the entry resembles the Ude Garami variation, his hand is not placed at Uke’s elbow but passes deeper to secure the underhook behind the shoulder. With his free hand, Tori seizes Uke’s throat in a manner comparable to the Kubi Wa technique of Daitō-ryū Aikijūjutsu Hiden Mokuroku. Tori then drives Uke backward by pushing at the neck, causing Uke to fall onto his back. On the ground, Tori hooks one of Uke’s legs and rotates him belly down. Maintaining isolation of the underhooked arm throughout, Tori completes the control by applying an Ude Garami (Kimura-like) finish.
