🔖 Technique Notes
As Uke strikes Shōmen Uchi, Tori steps to the outside at a 90° angle with his rear leg, placing it on the same line as his lead leg, evading the attack, and then steps forward toward Uke with his lead leg at a 45° angle relative to the line of attack, facing him. He places his lead fist on Uke’s chest while holding a Tantō in Honte (normal grip). Tori then advances forward toward Uke, first folding his arms and then extending them to push him (Ame no Torifune body movement). Thus, the push comes from his forward body displacement rather than from the arms. This action drives Uke backward and causes him to fall, both from the push and from the threat of the Tantō.
