🔖 Technique Notes
As Uke strikes Shōmen Uchi, Tori steps to the inside and delivers an upward diagonal Tantō cut to Uke’s wrist. He then seizes Uke’s Katana by the handle from above, between Uke’s hands, and executes a Tenkan pivot, lowering Uke’s arms while following the downward trajectory of the initial attack. Tori retreats his lead leg to align with his rear leg as he raises Uke’s arms, simultaneously cutting or threatening a strike to Uke’s neck with the Tantō. This combination of threat and arm elevation creates space for Tori to enter with his rear leg, placing his hips across Uke’s body and lowering Uke’s arm again. By extending Uke and stepping through his body, Tori makes him roll over the hips, completing the Koshi Nage. As Uke falls, Tori faces him again and follows his head with the Tantō, maintaining control and continuing the threat.
