🔖 Technique Notes
Uke carries a Tantō tucked inside his jacket on his left side (in a self-defense situation, this could be any other weapon carried at the belt, hidden in the jacket, or in the pockets). As soon as Uke reaches inside to draw the Tantō, Tori steps to the outside and places his lead hand on the upper part of Uke’s arm, above the elbow, on the tricep, controlling the shoulder as in Ikkyō. At the same time, he delivers an atemi to Uke’s face with an open palm, extending Uke’s head backward and unbalancing him.
Continuing in the same motion, Tori enters more deeply with his rear leg, stepping at a 45° angle behind and toward Uke, and drives the hand on Uke’s face downward, bringing Uke to the ground and completing the Irimi Nage.
