Tantō Dōri Koshi Nage from Sumi Otoshi / Hiji Otoshi

As Uke launches a Tsuki, Tori evades by entering to the outside with a full Tenkan 180° pivot, taking hold of Uke’s attacking arm at the wrist. As Uke turns back to face Tori, Tori sets his hips across Uke’s line and applies a cutting action at the elbow, as in the Hiji Otoshi Kokyū Nage variation. For the technique to work, Tori’s hips and cutting arm must remain aligned.
