The content of this video comes from the leading figures of the Yoseikan Aikidō school of Minoru Mochizuki Sensei. This instruction is still given by one of their assistants, Terumi Washizu Sensei, founder of Gyukushin Ryū Aikidō in Shizuoka, Japan, who taught at the former Yoseikan Hombu dojo in Shizuoka.

🔖 Technique Notes

Uke strikes with a Jōdan Nukite. Tori evades to the outside, making contact with Uke’s wrist using his rear hand. He then seizes Uke’s wrist and elbow and enters on the inside, executing the Ikkyō Omote cut. Once Uke’s arm is horizontal and his posture broken, Tori releases the elbow and, as Uke rises, grabs the opposite lapel with his thumb facing down. He then crosses his other arm over this arm behind Uke’s neck, securing the far shoulder and completing a Jūji Jime–type choke. From this position, Tori delivers a knee strike to Uke’s midsection with his rear leg, then hooks Uke’s lead leg from the outside and falls backward, projecting Uke with a Sumi Gaeshi.
