🔖 Technique Notes
Both opponents are seated (Suwari Waza). As Uke strikes Shōmen Uchi, Tori makes contact with the attacking hand while stepping off the line to the outside and following the downward trajectory of the arm, driving Uke forward onto his belly. The movement mirrors the mechanics of a direct Ikkyō Ura, overextending Uke’s arm, but instead of placing the second hand on the elbow, Tori continues along Uke’s back as he falls, controlling him by placing his lead knee on Uke’s lower back/hips and his rear knee on Uke’s elbow/humerus. Tori then seizes Uke’s other arm, folds it behind Uke’s back into an Ude Garami (Kimura) armlock, and steps on it with his lead knee to secure the pin. From this position, Tori sits back, rotating Uke onto his side with both arms trapped under his own back. Finally, Tori places his knife hand on Uke’s neck to reinforce control.
