🔖 Technique Notes

Tori throws Uke down with a Kote Gaeshi wrist turn; in this variation, the wrist is first folded along the joint toward the forearm and then turned to the side. Uke falls, but due to the inertia of the movement and Tori not following the cut fully, Uke rolls through and comes up onto his knees. To prevent Uke from rising further, Tori sprawls, placing his chest onto Uke’s back. From there, Tori begins to slide off to the side, controlling Uke’s head with one hand while threading his other arm under Uke’s armpit and across the neck, then connecting his hands by gripping his own bicep. Tori steps his feet forward to disrupt Uke’s base and continues to walk and tighten the hold, completing the D’Arce Choke.
