Hanmi Handachi Waza Morote Dōri – Kokyū Nage – Forward Overextension Variation
⛩️ Source
This excerpt comes from a 1935 demonstration by Morihei Ueshiba Sensei at the Osaka Asahi Journal, directed by Hisa Takuma.
🔖 Technique Notes
Tori is seated in seiza while Uke stands. Uke runs in to seize one of Tori’s arms with both hands (Katate Ryōte Dōri / Morote Dōri). Anticipating the grab, Tori extends his arm forward into Uke’s approach, using the incoming momentum to lengthen and unbalance Uke even before the grip is secured. As Uke completes the grab, Tori continues to advance and then lower his arm, fully breaking Uke’s balance and causing him to fall forward.
