🔖 Technique Notes
Tori holds Uke in a side control position. He can take Uke’s wrist and secures a Kimura grip by wrapping his arm around Uke’s arm and grabbing his own wrist, establishing an Ude Garami (Kimura). Alternatively, instead of taking the wrist, Tori can grasp the back of Uke’s hand to apply a Kamakubi (gooseneck wristlock). With this Kamakubi control, Tori can lock Uke’s shoulder and establish the Ude Garami (Kimura) without grabbing his own wrist, thus without using the classic Kimura grip.
