The content of this video comes from the leading figures of the Yoseikan Aikidō school of Minoru Mochizuki Sensei. This instruction is still given by one of their assistants, Terumi Washizu Sensei, founder of Gyukushin Ryū Aikidō in Shizuoka, Japan, who taught at the former Yoseikan Hombu dojo in Shizuoka.

🔖 Technique Notes

As Uke strikes with a Jōdan Nukite, Tori steps back and seizes Uke’s wrist with both hands. He lowers the hand and then raises it again, placing the elbow on his shoulder and locking it in an Ude Kime variation. To defend, Uke presses down on Tori’s nearest elbow, forcing Tori downward and folding his own elbow to escape the lock. Tori uses this downward motion to step under Uke’s arm in an Uchi Kaiten entry, but instead of pivoting, he drops to the ground in a Sutemi, projecting Uke forward in the direction of Tori’s head. Technically, because it is a Sutemi, this technique is not classified as a Kata Guruma.
