🔖 Technique Notes
Ō Soto Guruma, or "large outer wheel," is a Jūdō technique in which Tori off-balances Uke backward while stepping in close and positioning the body alongside Uke. Tori uses a strong upper-body pull and rotation to break Uke’s balance, while the leg action blocks and reaps both of Uke’s legs simultaneously from the outside, preventing any step or recovery. As Tori drives through with the upper body and rotates the torso, Uke is forced to fall in a wheeling motion, rotating over the blocked legs like a wheel turning around an axle.
