🔖 Technique Notes
Uke grabs Tori’s hand in a Gyaku Hanmi Katate Dōri. Tori breaks the grip by seizing Uke’s wrist, stepping to the outside line, and executing an Enka pivot, turning his hand toward the weak point between the thumb and index finger. While maintaining control of Uke’s wrist, Tori extends and unbalances Uke backward using the initial motion of a Sokumen Irimi Nage, placing his elbow near Uke’s chin and extending his own arm. He does not complete the throw; this movement is used solely to create space and unbalance Uke.
From there, Tori threads the same arm over Uke’s arm, slides it beneath Uke’s elbow so it is trapped against Tori’s forearm, and secures the lock by grabbing his own forearm. While remaining standing, he curls his fingers to increase pressure on Uke’s elbow, forcing the tap.
