Yoshio Kuroiwa Signature Koshi Nage from Kote Gaeshi
🈲 Forbiddenness : 🍃 Advanced
This video shows Yoshio Kuroiwa Sensei performing his signature Koshi Nage from a Kote Gaeshi position. He secures a Muna Dori on the opponent’s collar with a thumb-down grip (a cross-collar grip would have the thumb up), ducks under the arm while dropping his level and extending that arm, then rises and steps across as uke pivots on the hip. This Koshi Nage variation resembles Morihei Ueshiba’s, but it seems to have been independently developed by Yoshio Kuroiwa. According to Ellis Amdur, Kuroiwa created his Koshi Nage variations while working with members of the wrestling team at Rikkyo University, adapting them from single-leg takedown entries.
