🔖 Technique Notes
As Uke attacks with Jōdan Tsuki, Tori, standing in Shizentai with both feet on the same line, slightly retreats the foot on the side of Uke’s punch while parrying the strike upward. He then redirects the punch toward Uke’s inside, seizes the wrist, and wraps his other arm around Uke’s arm, securing his own biceps to form a stable grip.
Tori then enters to Uke’s exterior, rotating Uke’s arm into a position similar to Aikidō’s Ude Gaeshi or Ude Garami Nage, effectively applying a standing Americana lock.
From this position, Tori steps behind Uke with his rear leg and then performs a Tenkan pivot. He maintains the wrist grip while releasing the arm that was wrapped around Uke’s arm, replacing it with control on Uke’s elbow, transitioning into a control and body alignment similar to Aikidō’s Ikkyō Ura.
