🔖 Technique Notes
Tori is kneeling beside Uke, who is on his back, controlling the hand with both hands while Uke’s arm is folded in the Shihō Nage position—essentially the same position as at the end of a Shihō Nage. From this position, Tori can apply a wristlock by placing either Uke’s wrist or knuckles on the ground and pressing down on the elbow, compressing the joint as in Kamakubi (goose-neck wristlock) or the finishing wristlock pin of Gokyō. The lock is more effective when Uke’s knuckles are on the ground, as this creates a greater angle to fold and compress the wrist, whereas placing the wrist flat on the ground provides more structural resistance.
